麻省大学阿默斯特分校校长表示，该校五名国际学生的签证已被吊销

麻省大学阿默斯特分校校长哈维尔·雷耶斯在连夜发给麻省大学学生家长的电子邮件中写道，该校没有收到联邦当局关于取消这些学生在美国合法居留身份的通知，该邮件也发布在了该校的网站上。
雷耶斯在声明中表示，大学领导通过检查移民和海关执法局的学生和交流访问者信息系统（SEVIS）数据库了解到了撤销签证的消息，该数据库保存着持有签证的学生的信息。

雷耶斯敦促马萨诸塞大学的国际学生监控他们的收件箱，并将联邦政府的任何通讯告知教务长办公室、学生事务和校园生活办公室以及全球事务办公室。
雷耶斯写道，两所大学办公室的管理人员正在亲自联系国际学生，为他们提供校内和校外资源。该大学还设立了“天使基金”，帮助受联邦移民政策变化影响的学生支付法律、学术、住房、生活和咨询费用。
对于校长来说，特朗普政府针对国际学生的行为是针对他个人的。
“和很多人一样，我通过学生签证项目来到美国学习。我们来这里是为了改善自己，改善我们的社区，改善欢迎我们这些学者的国家，”雷耶斯写道。

Five international students at UMass Amherst had their visas revoked and student statuses terminated by the federal government this week, according to the university’s chancellor.
UMass Amherst received no notification from federal authorities that the students’ legal status to remain in the US had been revoked, Chancellor Javier Reyes wrote in an overnight email to UMass families, which was also posted to the university’s website.
University leaders became aware of the revocations by checking the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) database, which maintains information on students with visas, Reyes said in his statement.
A spokesperson for UMass Amherst declined to comment on the visa revocations on Saturday afternoon.
The Trump administration is cracking down on international students who carry visas who are alleged to have engaged in what federal authorities deem to be antisemitic activism.
It’s unclear what the justification was for canceling the visas of the five UMass Amherst students.
On March 25, Turkish national and Tufts graduate student Rümeysa Öztürk, who had co-authored an op-ed in her student paper criticizing the university’s response to the pro-Palestinian movement and calling for divestment from Israel, was arrested in Somerville near campus by masked ICE agents.
Just weeks before Öztürk’s arrest and subsequent transportation to a Louisiana detention facility, ICE agents arrested Columbia graduate student and Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil.
Reyes urged international UMass students to monitor their inboxes and inform the Office of the Provost, Student Affairs and Campus Life, and the Office of Global Affairs of any communications from the federal government.
Administrators at the two university offices are personally reaching out to international students to connect them with on- and off-campus resources, Reyes wrote. The university also established an “Angel Fund” to help students affected by federal immigration changes with legal, academic, housing, living, and counseling costs.
For the chancellor, the Trump administration’s targeting of international students is personal.
“Like so many others, I came to the United States to study through the student visa program. We came to better ourselves, better our communities, and better the country that welcomed us as scholars,” Reyes wrote.
